The Settle into Employment Handbook: A Guide to Settlement and Employment Services in the Darling Downs Region has been developed as a place-based resource inspired by the Settlement Processes and Services Guide established through the Settlement Leading Partners Network (SLPN). This locally driven handbook reflects a strong, collaborative effort across the Darling Downs, with contributions from the Local Jobs Job Coordinator and Support Officer, local councils, and multicultural service providers who have supported both the development and validation of content. Grounded in local knowledge, service mapping, and community insight, the handbook is designed to strengthen coordination and improve how services collectively support migrants transitioning into employment and community life.
Its tailored focus is on the Darling Downs service ecosystem, providing clear, practical guidance on how key systems operate locally including settlement programs (HSP, SETS, UHM), Services Australia, Workforce Australia pathways, and region-specific community networks and providers. It not only outlines available services, eligibility, and referral pathways, but also emphasises how providers can work together to connect individuals to the right supports at the right time. As such, the handbook functions as both a practical tool and a strategic enabler—supporting more cohesive, informed, and person-centred service delivery for migrants choosing to settle in the region.
